Sylvia Spencer

Program Director

My name is Sylvia Spencer and I am the Program Director at D&T Wellness. Helping people is my specialty. I have over 20 years experience as an addiction specialist and 10 years experience as a Program Director as well as being a certified mediation and breathwork teacher and yoga instructor. Throughout my career, I have always served others with compassion and care. I am committed to bringing evidenced-based and cutting-edge treatment to our clients at D&T Wellness.  I am part of a collaborative and cohesive team that strives to provide each client with a smooth transition into detox and thereafter. I believe every life matters, every story is unique, and everyone deserves as many chances as needed to live a fulfilled life.

Maxine Hughes

Clinical Director

Maxine Hughes is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 14 years of experience partnering with adults, families, and couples facing mental health struggles relating to trauma and addiction. Maxine consistently imbues a tenacity, passion, fearlessness, and humility in managing all integral aspects of client care. Maxine works to help each individual to access his or her own sense of agency over their own bodies and lives. She believes that people have everything they need within themselves to move towards healing. Her hope is to help her clients find their innate ability to heal. Maxine focuses on forming a strong therapeutic relationship with patients through the psychodynamic therapeutic approach. Together, they explore patients’ core conflictual relationship and how this impacts their addictive behaviors. Maxine completed her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from University of California, Riverside and received her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific University. She specializes in the treatment of attachment disorders, substance abuse, trauma and mood disturbances.

Erick Rodriguez

Head of Nursing

Erick is an 8 year veteran of the field. He has worked in every level of care from detox to IOP, directly assisting patients with needs and providing health guidance and advice for each level of care. Erick started off as a healthcare tech and quickly worked up the ranks to a Detox Manager. Now he’s managing our nurses and helping our patients through their detox phase and easing their transitions into sober life. Erick has always been a great source of information providing health, nutritional and mindfulness education in an easy to digest format applicable to all walks of life. As a vet of the field Erick has learned to better tailor care to each client. Erick has always worked closely with doctors, therapists, and psychiatrists providing a bridge between therapy and medication for better continuity of care of patients that is truly tailored to the individual. Erick has been a great asset to both staff and patients alike. His strong disposition is well balanced by his kind demeanor.

Sydney Chalmers

Lead Nurse

Sydney Chalmers, a dedicated and compassionate nurse in the field of addiction medicine, brings a wealth of experience and empathy to her role. With a background in nursing and specialized training in addiction treatment, Sydney is committed to providing comprehensive care for individuals facing the challenges of substance abuse. Her approach combines medical expertise with a deep understanding of the unique struggles that accompany addiction, fostering a supportive environment for patients on their journey to recovery. Sydney Chalmers exemplifies the qualities of a healthcare professional devoted to making a positive impact on the lives of those affected by addiction.

Amin D. Nawabi

Program Manager

Amin is a 4 year veteran of the field. He has embarked on an incredible journey of recovery throughout his years. Amin has faced down the shadows and demons of substance abuse and has emerged as a stronger, wiser and more fulfilled individual. The various challenges of life eventually led Amin to a downward spiral of addiction and grip of substance abuse took a firm hold. However, within the depths of substance there was a shining light of hope and desire to change that began to kindle. Amin believes that each person, no matter how broken, is redeemable. Given the proper tools, he believes individuals can overcome their addictions and live a full, prosperous life. Amin completed his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California State University Bakersfield and an Addiction Studies Certificate from Glendale Community College. Amin is highly motivated to bring out the inner light of all of our patients.
